mySugr Scanner App Reviews

App did not have my exact meter, but display is same. Still, it could not recognize the screen. Not like other scanners that "figure out" what camera sees. May work with one of the listed meters.

Update 5/25 - updated this app, yet again - still wont sync with my pro log. Get it together, MySugr! This new scanner is awful! I miss the cute and effective old one! This one is useless! Original: I love this app and paid for the pro version of my sugar, but this new Scanner update is practically unusable. It miss read the meter constantly, and now it wont sync with my logbook for several days. Im very frustrated.

It doesnt work with my Nipro TRUEresult / HEB inControl. How hard is it to OCR 1/2 in high LCD numbers?

Useless. Spent 20 minutes trying to get the app to scan my meter. It kept telling me to make sure there was no reflection on the meter window. There wasnt. Try in a well lite room, until indoor light, and activated the flash. No luck. If it wont scan, you cant use it.

Downloaded the app, took several minutes of playing around for the app to even recognize the Roche Aviva, and several more to get it to partially import my reading. Much easier, quicker and certainly more accurate to manually enter the values. Waste of time.

Its such a great concept, but NO METERS!!! Mines Bayer Contour Usb, and Its not in the list :((( Generally, there needs to be more models :(

This app is very limiting as far as BG monitor recognition goes, at a mere 6 metre this app is rather useless unless you have a newer metre, using the OneTouch ultrasmart, I can not use the functionality of the app, step up your game mySugr, very disappointed considering there are over 10,000 metres on the market, I refuse to upgrade to a metre that uses more expensive BG test strips aswell.

Great update with lots of new meter, but still miss the Bayer contour USB who is now (for almost 2 years) delivery with the Medtronic pump.

With my Freestyle work perfectly. Very good and interesting application. Why look for WiFi or cable sugar meters?

First impression: terrible. Second impression: wow. Bayer Contour - I tried this first and the app was only able to read one entry after a lot of trial and error. At first I thought it was because I didnt keep my phone steady, but then I tried setting my phone on something and placing the meter under the camera. Still nothing. It recognized the screen very easily but it couldnt figure out the numbers and kept saying Invalid Reading. Freestyle Freedom Lite - Worked beautifully. It found the screen quickly and read all the entries within 1-2 seconds each. I didnt need my makeshift tripod either. The only issue was that it saved them all to my logbook as AM. Since it stores a photo with each entry, I was able to edit them after pretty easily. Overall, not perfect, but much faster than manual entry when it works.

This is a fantastic idea and I cant wait for some of the bugs to be worked out. When scanning an Accu-Check Aviva, the scanner freaks out and displays "Invalid Reading" flashing and bugging out, almost like theres an error in the coding in response to an invalid reading. Also, the screen of the meter is very clear and the lighting was good, so I dont see why it wasnt reading it. Looking forward to seeing this improve so I can put it to good use! Great job, guys! I have a Bayer Contour and although the app says it is a compatible monitor, I have yet to have a reading accepted. It is a great idea if it worked, but It is actually faster to lunch the other app and input everything manually than to try and mess with the importer even when the monitor and phone are completely still.

Awesome app, would absolutely love to use this. Use the OmniPod and OmniPod FreeStyle remote with it, and is a huge pain to manually import all readings into MySugr. Hope to see support soon!

Im giving this app a 5-star rating selfishly, in the hopes that it increases the popularity of the app, which will then allow the company to increase the number of meters they support, specifically the One Touch Verio IQ. This app is a great concept and including that meter would be a huge benefit to a lot of people.

This app is a really cool idea, and for the most part works out pretty well. However it does not work very well if the meter is not on a stable surface, like a table. I think that this problem could be solved in the app took a picture and worked from there. The other issue is similar, it sometimes takes a bit longer than I would like to actually figure out what the time actually is. It may actually be 9 but the app thinks that the meter says 7. It fixes it though. I have not seen it input the wrong bg or time.

I was most excited about getting this app as part of the MySugr Pro version. I saw the videos on how easy it is to use your camera to log your blood sugars and downloaded it straight away. Unfortunately it only has a very limited number of glucometers that it works with and none of them are OneTouch (Ultra, Ultra2, Ultra Mini, Verio, etc) which is the most common brand in the US. I really urge them to include this brand if they are going to be successful in the US. As soon as they do, I will be all over it because I really love the Log Book and Academy portions of the Suite.

Worked fine for a week now it will not read the date at all on my freestyle lite. No response when i emailed them about the issues.

Cant believe there arent more apps like it or even a single one!! I just wish it would work with my meter, please add more meters!

I sometimes wouldnt test because I didnt have time to log and knew Id forget later. The importer solves this problem, allowing me to enter multiple readings at a time. Little tricky if its dark or theres glare, but thats my only complaint. Using the Freestyle Lite meter.
